Fire Stories: The Coming Together Project was commissioned by the Awakenings Festival in 2009. After the 2009 Black Saturday bush fires, the small community of Haven were experiencing the regeneration of their environment. This project looked to the positive future of the community after the devastation and destruction of the fires. It also looked at the way fire transforms, and can bring about new beginnings.
The project culminated in an installation in the Haven Town Hall which included included drawings, a gallery of melted objects from the fires, sound scape, animations, interviews, painted window panels and a forest of regenerating leaves.
Hannah worked with several groups as part of this project including the grade 3/4 students of Haven Primary School, Karkana Support Services, the Barengi Gadjin Land Council and the Haven community.
